Learner Portal - Portfolio / More control over what is displayed
PlannedIt would be beneficial if more options to control portfolio access in the learner portal were available.
- Currently when enabled, the portfolio displays all portfolio types to participants in the learner portal, and allows creation of portfolio items / document upload.
It would be good if we could have an option against individual portfolio types to:
- Disable file upload by learner
- Hide within the learner portal
- Have the option to then show that type, only where an item of that type exists
- Disable editing by the learner (Tested / was able to update licence details when logged in as a participant user).
As it stands, we have a lot of portfolio item types used by admins to track staff quals for example, which are completely irrelevant for our learners.
Another small side note, it would be good if it was a little easier to find the portfolio in the learner portal, perhaps it could be displayed next to "Current Activities" / "Past Activities"?:
Or have a dedicated menu item in the dropdown menu?:

Hi Ashley,
We have a couple of improvements on this front that I feel will do a good job of addressing the current issues with Portfolio items.
- We'll be adding the ability to hide certain portfolio types from the Learner Portal completely
- We'll be adding the ability to include Portfolio Types within Learning Plans. This would mean you could prevent Learners from commencing their study until they had provided certain Portfolio items. Otherwise, this would at least bring them to a more prominent location with the ability to add your own contextual instructions for each.
We'll also consider the additional solutions you've included in your post as some further improvements we could plan to do.
Looking forward to hearing any feedback on the above solutions.
