    Hi All,

I am going to close this Idea for comments as there is another very similar request that has similar comments with more followers.

    https://axcelerate.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/community/posts/204864558-Send-single-SMS

I have featured the linked Idea and hopefully, this is an Idea we can get on to the roadmap.

    That would be very useful.

Perhaps look at adding a Send Email/SMS option to the Actions menu. Make it very easy (with minimal clicks) to send a quick email or SMS to a contact; the more complex emails could go through Merge Docs.

Yep I agree. You can do it through the class now as well as the workshop, but it would also be handy to SMS someone who is not yet enrolled in a class or workshop.

I have requested a custom development quote for this as it looks like it will not be in the normal development plan anytime soon. I am happy to contribute to the cost of this feature as it is something we will definitely use... would anyone else like to contribute towards the cost? Please email me if you are interested and we can work something out - mark@asset.edu.au

    Here are the details:

Task Description: Add "Quick Message" action to Contact Actions, with the ability to send an SMS or an Email. Note: there will be no formatting options for the message.

    Scope of Work:
    - A new link on the Contact Actions menu: "Quick Message"
    - A dialogue box for entering the message - it will display how many chars have been entered.
    - It will only show the SMS option if the Contact record has a mobile number and SMS global details are entered
    - A system note to be added to the contact record (with the message text) when sent.

The fee for this custom development work is $1390 including GST.

Hey Mark, I know its a pain but you can send an SMS to a single contact in the mobile version of axcelerate (you can sign in from your desktop computer) https://m.axcelerate.com.au

I really think that axcelerate should put this into the main system (cost free) and its poor that it hasn't been done considering the support here.

If needed I will contribute $200.00 if others will do the same.

We use Axcelerate & Outlook for communication & we have an external provider that allows us to SMS students via Outlook (then we copy and paste email into Axcelerate.) We use Direct SMS but there are plenty of them out there. For mass emails of newsletters, etc. we use mailchimp which I think somehow links with Axcelerate to get the email addresses.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Andy.

I agree; and I have no doubt it would be included for free at some stage if we wait long enough but as we are not given any info on future development priorities/timelines there is no way to know when that will be.

We don't generally use the mobile version. Having to use two separate systems is very inefficient, I would expect that the main system should be upgraded to be responsive like almost every other SaaS is these days.

Mark we have tried sending the SMS via Outlook but it is another duplication of processes, the extra time to copy/paste the message back to aXcelerate means that it regularly gets missed.

It is a simple fix that would save a lot of time. The functionality is already there in other parts of the system, it just seems like an oversight when it was first added that this was not included.
